A CLASSIC fast food joint has celebrated a landmark anniversary in Braintree.
The McDonald’s branch in Cressing Road marked its 30-year anniversary with a milestone party in the restaurant.
The team’s celebrations included decorations and a cake for current and long-serving staff members, five of whom have been working at the restaurant for more than 20 years.
Braintree McDonald’s opened on December 18, 1993, and later became franchised in 2019 by Ahmet Mustafa.
In the present day, the Braintree restaurant employs 200 staff members and counts itself among Essex’s busiest McDonald’s restaurants.
The Braintree restaurant has also provided continued support to many charities, community projects, good causes and football teams, including long-standing sponsorship with local football club Sporting 77, supporting the team for more than 20 years.
The restaurant recently sponsored a SEN football team in the area.
Ahmet and his team also support local schools in the Braintree and neighbouring areas.
This includes helping with mock interviews to prepare business students at Alec Hunter Academy and sponsoring their graduation ceremony and prizes for students.
The team also help sixth form students at Hedingham School, by attending career fairs and taking part in their Enterprise Challenge, which gives students the chance to develop skills that will benefit them in the world of work.
Ahmet said: “I’m extremely proud of our staff, past and present, who have contributed to make the Braintree restaurant the success it is today.
“For a lot of young staff working at McDonald’s, this was their first job, and we offer them valuable life skills and work experience.
“I’m also proud of the work we have achieved in Braintree supporting the local community and charities.”
“Giving something back to the community we serve has always motivated myself and my restaurant teams.
“Most importantly, I’d like to thank all our customers, past and present, who have supported our business, and we look forward to serving you all for many years to come.”
