A YOUNG dog who was dumped on an animal rescue centre doorstep is now looking for a new forever home.
Three-year-old Saluki Sonny was found running free and petrified at the end of the driveway of the Danaher Animal Shelter in Wethersfield.
Staff suspect he was dumped, so took him in.
A spokesman said: “He was terrified when we eventually managed to catch him, and once we did he was petrified and didn’t trust anyone.
“The staff couldn’t get near him for a couple of days as he hid at the back of his kennel shaking with fear.
“But once he realised he could feel safe and trust his handler there was no turning back.
“Due to his rough start, he will take a while to bond with you, but once he does, he will be a friend for life.
“However, he will possibly always be more nervous of strangers.
“He loves other dogs’ company on his walks, likes a bath and brush and is super affectionate once he knows you.
“He walks on a loose lead and does have a high chase drive naturally so can’t live with cats or small pets but might be able to live with another calm dog.
“We know nothing of his previous life so he may need time to adjust to a home environment and be toilet trained. Therefore, he is looking for a home on the quieter side.”
