DRIVERS faced hours of delays after a crash on the A12 towards Colchester.
National Highways said in a post on the social media platform X that traffic had been stopped on the northbound carriageway of the major road after a crash between junctions 22 and 23 near Witham.
It said it had caused tailbacks for about seven miles on approach to the scene causing delays of 90 minutes after the crash at about 6pm on Friday.

Essex Police remained at the scene after one lane re-opened at 6.24pm.
A later post confirmed the road fully re-opened just before 8pm but warned motorists of further delays while traffic recovered.
Essex train operator Greater Anglia said its services were delayed after a lorry hit a railway bridge, but emergency services are yet to confirm if the incidents are linked.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was not called to the scene.
