AN MP has praised a GP surgery in her constituency after paying it a visit.
Witham MP Dame Priti Patel visited Collingwood Road Surgery along with Dan Doherty, the director of the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB), to discuss local health matters.
The former Home Secretary discussed how the ICB can better support the surgery, the issue of mental health and the Government’s Pharmacy First scheme.
The scheme will enable GPs to direct patients to community pharmacies.
One of the main issues raised with Dame Priti and Mr Doherty by the surgery was the need for better communication with the NHS to improve patient outcomes.
Dame Priti said: “I was delighted to meet with the excellent team at Collingwood Road Surgery in Witham.
“In particular, understanding how their practice addresses patient needs and learning about their ways of working in relation to key NHS pressures was helpful.
“We were also able to discuss how the practice can be better supported to better improve patient outcomes by working with the ICB.
“My thanks are to Dan Doherty from the ICB for taking the time to listen to our local health professionals to better inform the ICB.”
