A much-loved Braintree restaurant has beaten nine other businesses across the UK to take home a prestigious industry award.
Hasturk, a Turkish restaurant at Braintree Village Shopping Outlet has taken home an award at the British Kebab Awards last Tuesday.
The popular restaurant which is a meze, bar and grill, won the best value restaurant category, beating other finalists.
The awards ceremony celebrates the best kebab takeaways and restaurants throughout the UK, with Hasturk being nominated for the award in January.
Adam Haas, the general manager of Hasturk, says the whole team is thrilled with the award and the recognition it brings.
He said: “We are delighted. The whole team is grateful - all our hard work has paid off.
“Everything goes back to the team - we would not be able to do it otherwise.
“We are very happy. Hopefully there will be many more to come."
Hasturk team members Kenan Arslan, Nufel Gürler, Gulay Yasasin, Emine Sengul, Carmen Chami, Charbel Chami, and owner Hasan Yasasin all attended the glittering awards ceremony, which was held in London.
Before the win, the team were nervous but optimistic and excited about their chances.
The restaurant might celebrate the momentous win by extending an offer as a way of thanking customers.
Adam said: “When we were nominated we did a 30 per cent off our food bill during lunch sessions, Monday to Friday, deal.
“We may extend this. We would like to do something in return for all the customers who have voted for us.”
Hasturk opened in 2020 and started as a takeaway during the coronavirus pandemic.
Since then, the restaurant, which has 14 front of house staff and eight other staff, prides itself on a “relentless persistence for excellence”.
The team puts an emphasis on great customer service and all dishes are freshly prepared and cooked.
Hasturk is open Sunday to Thursday between 12noon and midnight, and between 12noon and 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
