AN award-winning string quartet will be performing in Braintree this week thanks to an Essex festival.
Classical group the Kleio Quartet will play in Braintree Town Hall, in Market Place, on March 23 at 3pm.
This afternoon concert is taking place in connection with Thaxted Festival's developing artists programme, which helps musicians with performance opportunities in the county as well as at the festival itself.
For the concert, the ensemble will perform compositions including Haydn’s String Quartet in D major, Op 76 No 5, and Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in E minor, Op 44 No 2, and more.
Since forming in 2019, the Kleio Quartet have performed at London’s Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, the Royal Festival Hall and have held a residency at Snape Malting’s Britten-Pears Festival in Aldeburgh, Suffolk.
Thaxted Festival is an annual event which sees a string of world-class musician play at the town's parish church.
This year’s event will take place from June 12 to July 14 and you can expect to hear music from orchestral groups, soloists, jazz, and folk across the dates.
Tickets for the Braintree concert cost £12 and £8 for people under the age of 30.
