A BRAINTREE teenager has pleaded not guilty to preparing an act of terrorism.
Alfie Douglas Coleman, 19, of Tailors Close in Great Notley, pleaded not guilty to a single count of preparing an act of terrorism on September 29, 2023, at a hearing at the Old Bailey.
Scotland Yard said Mr Coleman was charged as part of an investigation relating to “extreme right-wing terrorism”.
Mr Coleman admitted 10 offences of possessing terrorist material on the same date and pleaded guilty to attempting to possess a prohibited firearm which had a barrel of less than 30cm in length, as well as 200 rounds of 9mm ammunition without holding a firearm certificate.
The court also heard that Mr Coleman allegedly had in his possession books including The Anarchist Cookbook version 2000, Knife Fighting Techniques from Folsom Prison and White Resistance Manual.
Mr Coleman spoke to confirm his name via video link from HMP Bullingdon and was remanded back into custody by Judge Mark Lucraft KC.
Mr Coleman was arrested in east London on September 29 as part of a pre-planned operation, and was detained under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
A trial has been scheduled for October 21 at the Old Bailey and is expected to last for four weeks.
