Four boys have been arrested following a robbery near Braintree Station.
Residents were concerned after a large police presence was at a scene near the town’s train station yesterday afternoon.
Officers were called to the scene in Station Approach at around 3.40pm where a robbery in was reported.
The victim was approached by a group of four people who stole his bag.
According to Essex Police, four boys under the age of 18 were arrested on suspicion of robbery within 40 minutes of the report.
The four youngsters remain in custody while the investigation is ongoing.
Detective Chief Inspector Rob Huddleston said “Our officers responded quickly and in doing so, protected the public.
“Enquiries remain ongoing within our Criminal Investigation Department and we’re appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything to contact us, quoting reference number 718 of April 18.
“We appreciate that this is a concerning incident for residents but please be assured that we are working hard to investigate this robbery and hold those responsible to account.”
