AN 'emergency' partial road closure in Braintree has led to the discovery of a possible water leak.
Essex Highways closed off a stretch of Notley Road, between Kenworthy Road and Stone Close, on Thursday after a void was discovered overnight.
The road is temporarily closed to allow engineers to investigate the void.
It was discovered when a team was carrying out resurfacing in the area, a process which requires the old surface layer to be removed, before being replaced with a new, long lasting layer.
According to Essex Highways, after an initial excavation into the void, it suggests there is a water leak in the area, it confirmed on social media earlier today.
The organisation has contacted Anglian Water, so it can attend the site and investigate further.
The area will remain shut for now and Essex Highways has apologised for the inconvenience caused.
Another section of Notley Road had to shut on Thursday, specifically between Masefield Road and Longleaf Drive as firefighters tackled a garden blaze.
At the scene, firefighters reported a shed fire had spread to a garage and requested further crew from Great Dunmow.
The team worked quickly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading, whilst they rescued four dogs who were in a kennel in a garden.
