A WATER leak has caused a section of a busy Braintree road to be partially closed for the last five days – and now a company investigating it has provided an update.
Last Thursday, a stretch of Notley Road, between Kenworthy Road and Stone Close, was shut off by Essex Highways after a void was discovered overnight.
It was found when a team was carrying out resurfacing in the area.
Essex Highways temporarily closed off the road to allow engineers to investigate.
After an initial excavation of the void, Essex Highways contacted Anglian Water after suspecting a possible water leak.
Anglian Water has now investigated it and confirmed there was a leak.
A spokesman for Anglian Water said: “Our teams have repaired a leak on Notley Road in Braintree.
“We’re now on site making sure the road is safe to walk and drive on again, and everything should be back to normal in the next couple of days.
“We’d like to thank our customers in Braintree for bearing with us while we finish this vital work.”
The partial road closure is still currently in place.
