A NEW takeaway is set to open near Braintree with the owner making freshness a priority when it comes to serving up dishes.
Kadir Mico, 35, from Basildon, is the founder of Great Notley’s latest fish and chip shop, The Cod Father, in Notley Green, set to open in within the next few weeks.
It's located just opposite the large Tesco superstore and renovation work is underway.
From kebabs to pizza, Kadir has more than 15 years of experience in the takeaway industry and loves it, currently running two separate takeaways in Basildon.
According to Kadir, he wanted to set up The Cod Father to use his expertise and provide fresh food to residents.
Kadir said: “I love the area and would like to provide a good service to Great Notley.
“I am really excited about the launch. I know we are going to be really busy.
“I just want to provide fresh fish, chicken, and food to all customers in the area.”
Mr Mico is so committed to the new establishment he plans to move to Great Notley in the near future.
"I think Great Notley is a lovely area and just feels like the location to set up The Cod Father," he said.
Once it’s open, The Cod Father, which will have a six-person team, serving up fish and chips, burgers, fried chicken wings, and more.
But Kadir emphasised to The Braintree and Witham Times everything will be fresh and will stay away from using frozen ingredients.
He explained how the fish will be delivered from London’s Billingsgate fish market each day, and all dishes will have a “homemade” feel to them.
The Billingsgate Market is the UK's largest inland fish market and has an average of 25,000 tonnes of fish and fish products sold through its merchants each year.
All Cod Father fish dishes will even come with an authentic Greek salad as a side.
The Cod Father will be open six days a week from 11.30am to 9pm on Tuesday to Sundays.
