A CHURCH which dates back to the 19th Century is staging a fundraiser in a bid to fix its leaking roof.
Members of the congregation at St Peter’s Church, Bocking, are hosting a summer grand draw to pay for repairs.
The roof is leaking above the church organ.
The grand draw will be held at a mini fete at St Peter’s on June 16 following the 10am service.
With tickets only being 50p per entry or a book of tickets £2.50, there will be different enticing prizes on offer.
The top prize is £75 cash, and other prizes include music event tickets for the Institute, in Bocking End.
A spokesman said St Peter’s Church was extremely grateful for the Institute’s support.
He said: “They are hugely popular, and we are lucky to have such amazing entrepreneurs supporting entertainment in Braintree, especially in a building so steeped in local history.
“They have kindly offered to donate a couple of tickets to the Billy Joel Collection tribute act, on September 14, which is amazingly generous of them.”
Draw tickets are 50p from the church.
