TWO district post offices which have been shut for more than a year have reopened.

The Post Office has confirmed the Tye Green Post Office, in Evelyn Wood Road, Cressing, and the Black Notley Post Office, in Bedells Avenue, Black Notley, have reopened their doors.

According to a spokesman, both locations have been shut since December 2022 due to “operational reasons”.

Black Notley Post Office reopened on May 14.

Tye Green reopened on May 21 and is currently open seven days a week 9am to 5pm and in several weeks will be opening at the previous time of 8am to 8pm.

Great Notley and Black Notley ward councillor, councillor Graham Butland was "delighted" with the news, explain how he believes the post office is an important business for the village.

He said: “I think post offices provide a valuable service to the public, particularly as many banks have closed down, and it helps to provide life to villages such as Black Notley, so I am really delighted.”
