An electrician has won a huge five-figure prize after entering a competition at the 11th hour.
Joe Rider, from Braintree, secured £20,000 after entering the Instant Wins Competition by online car competition company BOTB just half an hour before the deadline.
The 27-year-old said: "When it popped up to say I had won, I had to get a second opinion from my girlfriend to make sure what I thought I was reading was correct.
"It still hasn’t really sunk in yet.
"I won’t be doing anything hasty with the money.
"Ideally, I want to use it for a deposit on a new house and maybe a holiday somewhere."
Mr Rider said he entered on impulse, having previously tried his luck in a couple of the BOTB car competitions.
BOTB presenter, Christian Williams, said: "A massive congratulations to Joe for winning this fantastic cash prize.
“Luck was clearly on his side. He only entered 30 minutes before the competition ended, and I bet he and his girlfriend are so glad he did.”
Founded by William Hindmarch in 1999, BOTB has given away £67 million worth of cars to date and hands over the keys to a car each week along with a lifestyle prize.
