THIS weekend marks the return of a popular carnival event in Braintree this weekend.
The Braintree and Bocking Carnival, which is one of Braintree’s biggest events, will take place today.
The event will raise money for Cancer Research and the Alec Hunter Pre-School.
The carnival Chairman Martin Green said: “This Saturday we have got a fun packed day planned for all ages.
"I’d like to thank all helpers in advance and sponsors including Mini First Aid and The Essex Estate Agency.”
Highlights from the day will be a procession through town which leaves Lakes Road at 2.30pm and entertainment on Meadowside until 8pm.
After a few years away, the carnival returned in 2023 due to the pandemic.
This year looks set to be bigger and better than last year with much excitement throughout the area.
The event will also be the first for the new carnival queens who were crowned in March.
The day is set to have plenty of entertainment including live music, a funfair and plenty of float entries in the procession.
