Notley Green Primary School has won a contest to rename the Top-Top Café at Braintree Mews Care Home.

The primary school's successful submission, 'Views from Mews', was chosen from numerous entries from Braintree and nearby schools.

The café is a key feature at Braintree Mews Care Home, a luxury care facility providing dementia, residential, and respite care which is part of Avery Healthcare's expanding portfolio.

Scott Reece, customer service manager at Braintree Mews, said: "Engaging with schools across Braintree and the surrounding areas has been a fulfilling experience.

"The interaction between the creative young minds of school children and our residents during this initiative was significant.

"This effort establishes a lasting legacy with our new plaque and contributes to a worthy cause."

A commemorative plaque bearing the new café name was unveiled in a ceremony attended by student leaders Samuel, Remy, Everly, Maisy, and school officials headteacher, Emma Saward, and deputy headteacher, Jenni Colebrook.

In correspondence with the naming event, Notley Green chose Diabetes UK as the recipient of related donations, to underline their ongoing commitment to assist people with diabetes in their school community.

The renamed Views from Mews café is a hub for residents' activities, family functions, community assemblies, and further serves as a site for diverse charity and business meetings, including Dance Nations' Dancing with Dementia project.

Alexander Bragg, home manager at Braintree Mews Care Home, said: "Working with Notley Green Primary School has been crucial in building connections that improve life for younger and older residents.

“It shows how much we care about our community and bringing everyone together.”
