THE date for an important annual Braintree carnival has been revealed for next year after a successful turnout at the 2024 event.
The Braintree and Bocking Carnival, one of Braintree’s biggest events, has been confirmed it will be making its return next year.
The event took place last month, with a procession making its way through the town from Lakes Road at 2.30pm.
Entertainment was available on the Meadowside until 8pm.
Money was raised throughout the day for Cancer Research and the Alec Hunter Pre-School.
The carnival theme for this year's event was back to the 90s.
The 2024 event marked the second consecutive Braintree and Bocking Carnival in the last two years, as it returned in 2023 after a few years off due to the Covid pandemic.
It was last held in 2019 prior to the pandemic.
Alongside colourful floats, live music, and food, the current Braintree and Bocking Carnival royal court took part in the day after being elected in April.
Darcey Minton is the junior princess, with Porsha Hughes named the court’s senior princess.
Raven O’Connor had been named as the rosebud princess, and Olivia Green was this year’s carnival court queen.
The court members will spend the next year representing Braintree at many different events.
Martin Green, the chairman of the Braintree and Bocking Carnival commented on its success.
He said: “The 2024 Braintree Carnival couldn’t of been better.
“Fantastic support came from the community of Braintree.
“The Weather was perfect.
“A big thank you to all the committee.”
The Braintree and Bocking Carnival will return on June 7, 2025.
The theme for next year’s event is yet to be announced.
