A COLOURFUL day of family fun and inclusivity is coming to Braintree as the town's first ever Pride event is coming next month.
The event, which will be at Weavers Park, has been organised by Salvation Army Housing Association Braintree Foyer.
Braintree Foyer is a modern support housing development providing 35 self-catering rooms and support services to people aged 18-35 experiencing homelessness.
The Pride event aims to celebrate diversity, promote inclusivity, and support the LGBTQ+ community.
Pride month in June saw plenty of events across the county, with more still to come.
The monthlong observance is dedicated to the celebration of LGBT pride, commemorating the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender culture and community.
The news of Braintree’s first Pride event was shared by Braintree Council on its Facebook page.
It reads: “Braintree Pride will feature a variety of activities for the whole family including information and advice stalls, games, food vendors, a fashion show and live performances by talented artists from the LGBTQ+ community.
We hope plenty of you will come out to celebrate this exciting inaugural event.”
It is not the only Pride event taking place in August, with the huge Colchester Pride set for August 17.
The event will see a mixture of indoor and outdoor activities including the Main Stage, featuring local and national acts and a market area, with a variety of food, drink, information and sellers.
The Braintree event will be on August 10, at Weavers Park from noon to 6pm.
