WHITE Court Primary School’s annual summer fete didn’t let the miserable weather stop fundraising fun.
The fete is organised by Friends of White Court, a charity made of volunteers, and managed to raise £6,029 for the school.
Kelly Ambrose, chair of Friends of White Court, said: “I’m incredibly proud of everyone and so grateful to the parents for coming, because they have all helped to raise the money.
“We can hopefully fund some brilliant things.”
Last year’s summer fete helped raise funds for an outdoor classroom with a gazebo for outdoor lessons, theme days such as Second World War day, school trips, and new classroom and library equipment.
The fete has craft stalls run by local businesses, parents, and teachers, dance and karate showcases, and games of tombola, lucky bingo, and spin the wheel.
A highlight of the day was children being able to vote whether headteacher Candida Burrell would be soaked with confetti, water and feathers, shaving foam, or glitter slime.
Deputy headteacher Emma Brewster said: “It was a great day, we had so much positive feedback.
“We’re so appreciate of Friends of White Court and how the bad weather didn’t spoil the day for the children. It was a great community event.”
