WITHAM Carnival procession filled the streets with colour and music at the weekend.
On Saturday, the annual event paraded from Witham Rugby Club and through the High Street as the event marked its 95th year.
There were salsa dancers, majorettes, popular princesses, bagpipes and more winding their way through Witham as children screamed for their favourite part of the procession.
Brad Wendes, chairman of the Witham Carnival, said: “Despite a little rain early in the morning, the sun came out for the procession and the streets were lined with smiling, cheering people.
“I was once again reminded of just what a great carnival the Witham Carnival is, and why we love being a part of this event.”
The carnival raised £598 in bucket collections on the day, which will be used to support local charities.
People also watched the procession from deck chairs in their front gardens, the front windows of food venues, and even from their living rooms as the parade passed houses and blocks of flats.
Brad added: “Thank you to everyone who came out to support the carnival.
“The carnival embodies all the best things about living in a small town with a strong community, and we’re proud to be part of it.”
