A WOMAN is "ecstatic" after thousands of pounds were raised to help her sister  battle a life-threating condition.

Joan Scrivener, 74, of Hatfield Peverel, is helping to continue to raise funds for sister Lorraine Beuttell, who has been in a two-year battle against breast cancer.

Lorraine is better known as Lolly and previously underwent a lumpectomy to remove the cancer.

After finding out the condition has returned, she then had her lymph nodes removed from her armpit.

A year later, to everyone’s shock, the cancer returned again in three places.

After a mastectomy, Lorraine was told again the cancer had gone.

Sadly, it was then discovered the cancer had spread to her spine and pelvic area, and her family have been raising funds for a treatment not available on the NHS called dendritic cells therapy.

The family say the treatment would need to be carried out in Germany and the cost would be about £30,000.

Lorraine's children, Lauren Beuttell and Martin Beuttell-Johnson, set up a GoFundMe page, to raise funds for the treatment.

So far £32,385 has been raised so far, and Joan has helped raise awareness and fundraise for the appeal.

Joan said: “People, friends and many others have donated out of kindness and because they know what a lovely lady Lolly is and to make people aware about cancer.

"I am ecstatic, overwhelmed and truly delirious with happiness to think there is so much love and support from friends relations and people we hardly knew.

“Lorraine is outgoing, funny, beautiful, caring, and loving.

“I’ve been involved with the GoFundMe page, doing car boot sales, and more.

“Lolly is overwhelmed. She feels unconditionally loved - the support has bought tears to her eyes.”

Joan is hosting a charity day at the RAFA Club, in Howbridge Road, Witham, on July 27.

The event will have a DJ, singer and raffle prizes donated by businesses and friends.

Joan is also working on a ‘Hope4Lolly’ charity calendar, featuring women who have had cancer or have had it in their family.
