A BRAINTREE special school for learners celebrated summer in their annual summer picnic.
The Edith Borthwick School is a highly successful community schools for learners aged 3 to 19 with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and autism.
Children and families celebrate on the field with craft stalls and gifts made by the school’s learners, plus football on the playing field.
Headteacher, Maggie Loveday, took to the stocks with children paying £1 for two shots with a wet sponge.
The event is also a way for new schoolchildren chance to meet their new classmates before the summer holidays.
Pursuit Resources Group, a leading recruitment agency based in Braintree, supported the event by providing free bucket hats and bouncy castles for families to enjoy.
Lorraine Phair, managing director at Pursuit, has helped The Edith Borthwick School for 40 years, having started volunteering at the school since she was 16.
Lorraine said: “The Edith Borthwick School has a special place in my heart”.
“I am passionate about supporting my local community and I am always looking for ways for Pursuit to give back. It was great to see the children and their families enjoying a fun family day out, whilst meeting their new teachers and classmates.”
Pursuit will also be sponsoring the school’s upcoming Leavers’ Ball.
