A SEVEN-PIECE band which was set up to celebrate and honour the masterpiece works of Joni Mitchell is set to perform at Witham Town Hall.
Hejira comprises highly experienced jazz musicians and is fronted by Hattie Whitehead.
Hattie is said to represent the style of Joni’s music with her power and plays the guitar in a similar way to that of the Canadian, matching her pitch and poise.
In 2016, she won the emerging talent award at Glastonbury Festival and has since had her original songs listened to hundreds of thousands of times on various streaming platforms.
Joni Mitchell, who the band honours with their music, is a Canadian singer who was most prominent in the 70s.
Starting off on the folk music circuit, Joni Mitchell then branched into the jazz and pop side of music.
Joni is an extremely well-established artist, with 11 Grammy Awards and in 1997, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The album ‘Shadows and Light’ is what the band is mainly using to draw their repertoire from.
The performance at Witham Town Hall will take place on Friday July 26, starting at 7:30pm, with tickets costing £19.50.
