A FUNDRAISING family in Braintree has raised hundreds for the East Anglian Children’s Hospital.
Jenny Chapman, 41, has been fundraising for EACH ahead of a charity skydive with her work, The New Homes Group.
Her efforts also inspired her two daughters to raise some money for the children’s hospital.
Jenny said: “My daughter Skye, who is just eight, heard and asked what the charity is about.
“She said, ‘I want to help raise money, the children can’t go out and play like I can. They can’t do things like I can’.”
Skye Chapman decided to do over 1,000 squats and just under 900 skips for the month.
Meanwhile six-year-old sister, Ella-Mae, supported her by doing skipping and other challenges on some days to keep her motivated.
In a month, Skye raised an amazing £475 for EACH.
Jenny said: “Skye is really pleased. You can see her face is just beaming.
“I feel really proud of her.
“It took us back with how she spoke about understanding there are children who are less fortunate than her.
“She was very dedicated, always asking how many she’d done and if she beat her score the previous day.
“She just did it, and she wanted to raise as much money as possible for the children."
Jenny added: “How the world is now, it’s important for children to understand there are kids less fortunate than them and how we can support them and help."
“I’m very, very proud.”
Since Skye’s success, Jenny has been thinking of other fundraising activities her young girls can get involved with.
“Even now, Skye is asking what else we can do," she said.
Jenny is now looking forward to her skydive on September 7, which is something she’s “always wanted to do.”
She said: “Knowing what charity it’s for, it’s vital, and heaven forbid if my children became poorly, you need to know there’s a charity out there who would be doing as much as they can.
“It’s worth doing and raising as much as we can for them.”
The New Homes Group’s skydiving employees have so far raised £7,359.
