WITHAM Sixth Form students are celebrating their “particularly impressive” A Level results today.
Many students are excited to head off to top universities, including Nottingham University, Essex University, Southampton University and Aberystwyth University.
Others have secured apprenticeships with employers such as the British Army, Colchester United, and within the finance sector.
This year’s results are particularly impressive as this is only the second year that grading has returned to pre-pandemic standards, with many students achieving Distinction Stars (D*).
Kymberly Wilson achieved an A and a C grade at A Level and D* in BTEC Business. She also achieved two A grades at AS level and is going to the University of Nottingham to study law.
Ronnie Cox achieved D*, D*, D and B (AS Level) and has been accepted onto a Finance Apprenticeship.
Matthew Eglin achieved D*, D*, D, B (AS Level) and will be beginning an apprenticeship with Colchester United.
Megan Hopkins achieved D*, D*, D*, D* and will be studying Childhood Studies at the University of Essex.
Joseph Harvey achieved an A, A, D* and is studying Accounting and Finance at the University of Essex, having “shown exceptional resilience and overcome huge obstacles to allow him to go to university.” He received five unconditional offers.
Head of School, Kath Bellchambers of Witham Sixth Form said: “I am so proud of all our students, who have worked incredibly hard to achieve their A Level results this year.
“Despite the challenges they have faced, our students have demonstrated remarkable resilience, dedication, and academic excellence.
“Many have secured places at their first-choice universities to pursue their passions and ambitions.”
She added: “Their hard work has paid off, and we wish everyone every success for their future.”
To help ensure all students were as prepared as possible for their exams, Witham Sixth Form held additional revision sessions before and after school.
All students were given 1-1 mentoring sessions focussing on target setting, effective revision strategies and mindfulness, and students were invited to a range of workshops focussing on mental health, wellbeing, and study skills.
