A WOMAN was punched in the face and sustained a “cut to her jaw” in an assault, prompting Essex Police to launch an appeal.

Police officers are currently investigating an incident that took place last Wednesday, August 7, in Temple Lane, Witham.

At around 8.20pm, the victim was driving between Witham and Silver End when they were overtaken by a black Nissan Qashqai which had been driving closely behind her vehicle.

After the Nissan overtook the victim’s car, the driver of the Nissan stopped the car which caused a “minor” crash involving two vehicles.

The Nissan driver then got out of the car and assaulted the victim by kicking their car door into the victim’s shoulder and punching her in the face.

As a result of this, the woman sustained a cut to her jaw.

The suspect has been described as a white man, around 5ft 10” and between 35 to 40 years old.

His black Nissan was a 60 or 61 registration plate.
