THE Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens are a perfect place to spend a summer afternoon, with beautiful woodland wildlife, bookable tennis courts, and the occasional event.

Over the last four months, the venue has played host to the popular Brass Band Concerts.

Once a month from May, the band would delight residents with an afternoon of music for free.

The final Brass Band Concert of the summer occurred last Sunday, August 25.

Playing a variety of brilliant tunes, the Bocking Concert Brass played from 3pm to 5pm.

Bocking Concert Brass is made up of amateur musicians of various ages and abilities, with husbands, wives, parents and children all playing together, some with their own instruments but the majority provided by the band on loan.

Among the band’s regular and favourite tunes are ‘Beyond the Sea’, featured in Finding Nemo, ‘La Vie En Rose’, and ‘Viva Espana’.

The public gardens have been in Braintree since 1888 and are well-preserved as a relaxed leisure space, with no consumption of alcohol without Trustees permission and no dogs allowed on the premises, except Guide Dogs.

There is also a café and children’s play area and on September 1, there will be a Classic Car Festival with £5 entry and under 12s going free from 10am to 4pm.
