A LEISURE centre in Halstead is hosting a range of active classes to “empower” communities.
Halstead Leisure Centre is offering a range of exciting free activities as part of the Safer Streets for Halstead project.
The programme features free stunt workshops, dodgeball, football coaching, boxing, paint and rave, muay Thai, self-defence and more for 11–16-year-olds.
It aims to create opportunities for young people alongside women and girls to encourage communities to feel empowered, feel safer, and offer diversionary activities.
Exciting new classes are also being added to the programme including Park Play at King George’s Playing Field every Saturday morning, as well as Dodge Ball, Wall Ball, Paint and Rave Dace, and Gladiator Games.
There will also be monthly film screenings at Halstead Empire Theatre, with a £1 compulsory drink purchase per person.
Paula Buchan, Safer Streets project manager at Fusion Lifestyle in Braintree, said: “We are really proud of the Safer Streets programme we are running for teens.
“We’re excited to add outdoor park sessions and film screenings at Halstead Empire Theatre to the new line up too.
“We believe the classes offer something for all interests and abilities.”
The programme restarts on September 9, with sessions available to book by downloading the Fusion Lifestyle app.
