WITHAM’S annual Street Entertainment Festival will see the return of many exciting performers next weekend.

Formerly known as the Puppet Festival, Witham Street Entertainment Festival has become a main fixture in Witham’s calendar and offers hours of family fun.

Held in the town centre, the event regularly draws large numbers of visitors into the town to enjoy the free festival.

The festival, which is organised by Witham Council, has taken place since 1999 and has always been held on the third Saturday of September.

A number of exciting acts will perform in the Newlands Shopping Centre, the Grove Shopping Centre, the United Reformed Church and in Newland Street itself, where Witham Council closes the road between Collingwood Road and Maldon Road.

Some acts for 2024 include The Wonder Woman Street Show, Granny Turismo, James Arnott Punch and Judy Show, UK Caricaturist Paul, Steven the Magical Music Bubble Bike, popular princesses and many more.

Cllr Lucy Barlow, Mayor of Witham said: "We’ve got a programme full of old favourites and new surprises.

"Whether you’re coming to see the awesome Titan or fancy something even bigger and even prehistoric, there will be an act for you to enjoy.

"Don’t forget to look out for that crocodile stealing Punch’s sausages as well!"

She added: "Town councillors will be offering free children’s tattoos during the day and the full programme can be viewed on the council website now.

"The weather is promising to be kind so please roll on up and appreciate our acts."

Witham Street Entertainment Festival 2024 will take place Saturday, September 21, between 10am and 3pm.
