THE boss of a beloved town tradition has celebrated the “triumphant” success of this year’s event.
The Coggeshall Carnival was back for just the second time since in six years.
The event followed on from last year’s event which was the first since 2018 due to dwindling visitor numbers and the Covid pandemic.
This year’s event started about 12.30pm with the parade floats and walking parades starting at Honywood Community School.
Colourful processions passed through the town centre on the way to the reaction ground in East Street.
The Coggeshall Carnival Association is thankful to the businesses which supported the day by donating raffle prizes, attended fundraisers, and gave their time to the carnival.
It is also thankful for the National Lottery Community fund which granted funding just shy of £3,000.
Carol Kelly, the Coggeshall Carnival Association chairman has offered her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped bring this year’s event to life.
She said: “The whole committee feels triumphant with the success of the day.
“It has been hard work, a massive commitment and so satisfying to have it all come together.
“We are truly humbled by the support we have had from our community – we are already planning for next year.”
The event originated in the early 1970s and has had numerous events from 1982 onwards.
The next Coggeshall Carnival will take place on September 6, 2025.
