TWO teenage boys have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation after a man was assaulted in a car park in Witham.
The man was assaulted in a car park off Mayland Road, Witham, on Tuesday, October 15.
Police were called to the scene between 4.45pm and 5pm following reports of a group of children throwing firecrackers in the area.
When a man confronted the group, he was allegedly assaulted.
Police officers have been supporting the victim while they investigate the incident.
The victim is reportedly recovering from injuries he suffered.
Police arrested two 14-year-old boys on Thursday, October 17, on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Both suspects have been questioned and released on bail while the investigation continues.
Insp Philip Jackson, off the Braintree and Uttlesford community policing team, addressed concerns from the local community, which have been widely discussed on social media.
He said: “I understand the public concern, and I want to reassure the community that dedicated officers are fully investigating this troubling incident.
“Our enquiries have progressed well, and we are not currently seeking any other suspects. However, if anyone has additional information, we urge them to come forward.”
