POLICE have issued an update after a serious crash has closed the A12.
Officers are on the scene alongside emergency service colleagues after the crash involving "a number of vehicles".
The incident happened at Kelvedon, with both sides of the carriageway closed.
A spokesman for Essex Police has said: "We’re on the scene of serious collision involving a number of vehicles on the A12 northbound at Kelvedon.
"The road is closed in both directions whilst emergency services deal with the incident.
"We will provide an update when we practically can."
The London-bound carriageway has also been held to allow for Air Ambulance arrival, with a diversion in place.
Officers have also launched an appeal for dashcam footage after the crash.
A spokesman added: "Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of it should please get in touch as soon as possible.
