Braintree Town Hall has been shortlisted as a finalist for next year’s Essex Wedding Awards.
The awards have been recognising excellence in the wedding industry for the past 13 years.
The town hall, which opened in 1928, features ceiling-painted murals, wood panelling, and Portland stone fireplaces and mantle pieces, making it, according to Braintree District Council, an "elegant and memorable setting for weddings."
Councillor Charley Dervish, lead member for art, heritage, and culture at Braintree District Council, said: "We’re thrilled that Braintree Town Hall has been recognised as a finalist for these awards.
"It’s a testament to the unique charm and historic beauty of the venue, which has been part of our community for nearly 100 years.
"The original features and timeless elegance offer couples a special place to celebrate their wedding day.
"Being shortlisted in the category of historical venues is fitting, and we look forward to the awards ceremony next month."
The winners from each category will be announced at an awards dinner at Chelmsford Racecourse on Thursday, November 21.
