A family-run fabric shop near Braintree will shut its doors at the end of the year, owners have confirmed.
And Sew On Fabrics, in Blake End, Rayne, has made the difficult decision to cease trading after more than three decades in business.
The owners said the business is “unable to commit to another five years in the current economic climate” as its lease is up for renewal in December.
In a statement, the family said: “This is not a decision that has been easy, nor has it been made without considering all other options. We know so many of you will be sad, shocked, disappointed.
“Having been in business for almost 34 years, we have come to know many of you as friends and not just customers.
“We have seen each other through many trials and tribulations across the years and we’ve come to feel like family to some of you and been privileged to share in your lives.
“We appreciate every single one of you.”
The last official day of trading will be Saturday, December 21, and a number of discounts will be offered over the last two months.
‘Essential’ products will be stocked as best as possible, the owners have confirmed.
They will not be moving or continue to trade online.
