A man from the Braintree district has been arrested and bailed as part of an investigation into a historic sexual offence.
The arrest of a 63-year-old man, was made as part of police's constant work to safeguard victims of sexual offences and identify suspect, no matter the length of time since the reported incident.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "If you speak to us, you will be listened to. Support is there for anyone affected by rape and sexual abuse, and no victim or survivor is alone.
"You can also speak to the organisations that make up Synergy Essex, who provide specialist support for victims and survivors across Essex: https://tinyurl.com/Essex-Police-specialists."
