A FORMER congregational church near Braintree which has approval to be converted into three flats has hit the market.
The former church in The Green, Finchingfield, served as a place of worship until 2015 when the property was used as an office space.
In March last year, Braintree Council granted permission to transform the building, which is believed to date back to 1779, to be converted into accommodation.
The Grade II listed building was enlarged and altered between 1815 and 1823, as well as between 1824 and 1833.
The approved plans from 2023 suggest three two-bedroom flats on three floors, with the existing organ remaining in place.
A car park for up to six cars is located at the front of the building, while the land to the side and rear has been used as a burial ground, where there are burial rights reserved and retained for public access.
The church is on sale at a guide price of £450,000 and is represented by property agents at Savills, who can be contacted on 01245 293233.
