RESIDENTS are delighted that much-needed works on a village road between a river and a train station have been completed.
Station Road, White Notley has seen intense and ever-growing potholes on the east side of its bridge over the River Brain.
The road has become known for its potholes which see cars swerve wide to avoid damage.
Despite discussions to schedule the works for mid-November, the road has been resurfaced after the “urging” of Councillor Ross Playle.
Councillor Ross Playle, Essex County Councillor for Witham Northern, said: “Since I was elected in 2021, I have had to ask for Station Road in White Notley to be patched up a number of times.
“The issue, as understood by Essex Highways, is that there is a water source underneath the surface here, which is resulting in the road defects quickly reappearing after being rectified.
“Essex Highways is currently undertaking investigations to find a solution to overcome the root source of this problem to ensure the potholes do not keep reappearing.”
He added: “I will continue to push for a resolution to this matter as quickly as possible but I do also want to thank residents once again for their patience and understanding.”
Residents are grateful for the resurfacing over the potholes, which affected many vehicles in recent years.
