A WRITER has praised an inaugural event held in Braintree which showcased talents from up-and-coming authors.
Eight authors descended upon George Yard Shopping Centre, Braintree, from 10am to 3pm on Saturday for the first ever Meet Essex’s Amazing Authors event.
It was free and gave the public an opportunity to meet authors who read extracts from their published works, and answer questions about their craft.
Authors Josie Dom, Aki McKenzi, Sarah Banham, TG Trouper, DS Johnson-Mills, Julia Stone, Sam Scott, Carley-Ann Osborn took part in the event.
Many fiction and non-fiction genres were on display, including children's picture books, military fantasy, how to guides, supernatural horror, contemporary romance, psychological thrillers and more.
Silver End resident and author TG Trouper, who celebrated releasing his latest novel The Collaborator on the day, was very pleased with the event.
He said: “It was great to see the talented Essex authors being so well received by the public.
“There was something for everyone at the Author Event in Braintree on Saturday.
“This inaugural event went well, and it will be happening again, definitely annually and maybe more frequently if the demand is there.
“There will certainly be a few more of the excellent Essex authors next time.
“What was particularly inspiring was to see the amount of young people coming in and asking the authors’ advice on how to get into writing.
"Talent for the future is being made.”
