A YOUNG girl has had 12 inches of long locks cut in support of both children suffering from cancer and a nearby animal rescue.

Braintree resident, Clara Hubbard-Webb, seven, had 12 inches of her hair cut off last Saturday, to be donated to The Little Princess Trust.

The charity provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer.

Clara decided to donate to the charity after seeing a friend carry out a similar fundraiser.

Her hair was professionally cut at Clara's home last weekend, by a mobile hairdresser.

The rescue works closely with the RSPCA to care for unwanted animals, including cats, dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits, and help them find their forever home.

Clara said: “I was nervous, but I feel so proud to help other children.”

“I also feel really lucky to help the animals that need help.”

Clara has raised £545 with her haircut, and will be spending the funds in Pets At Home to gather animal toys, blankets and food to donate to Danaher.

Victoria said: “This was totally all Clara’s idea.”

“It was a shock to us as it was so out of the blue.

“We even gave her a week or so to think about how much hair she was cutting off and how long it had taken her to grow it that length.

“But she was determined that she wanted to do this for children that are not as lucky as her to have hair.

“We cannot describe how proud we are of her."
