Braintree Hockey Club has secured a two-year sponsorship deal.

The sports team will be sponsored by independent housebuilder Dandara.

As part of the sponsorship, Dandara's logo will be displayed at the club's facilities in Bocking.

The club, which was founded in 1903 as 'Braintree Men's Hockey Club', is now one of the leading hockey clubs in Essex.

It includes men's and women's teams, as well as junior teams for boys and girls aged six to 16.

Bruce Hanley, operations manager from Braintree Hockey Club, said: "Thank you to Dandara for their sponsorship and support of our club.

"We are largely funded by donors and sponsors, so Dandara’s gift will help ensure the club continues to thrive.

"We have a full schedule of matches and events for the new year, and we’re thankful to have Dandara’s support."

Gemma Bannister, head of sales for Dandara Eastern, said: "It’s strong, flourishing local groups like Braintree Hockey Club that bring a sense of community to an area, and we’re pleased to be able to sponsor this wonderful organisation.

"With over 100 years of history in the area, the club has become a vital part of life in Braintree.

"We’re proud to support them as they continue doing important work and are excited to watch them play over the next two years."

Dandara's new Towerlands Park development is located just over a mile from the club's pitch.

The development offers a collection of three to five-bedroom homes, with prices starting from £369,995.
