A CHOIR group based in Witham has 'risen to new heights' since performing on Britain's Got Talent last year, releasing a new single this Christmas. 

Inclusive community choir, The BIG Sing is an inclusive community choir that are taught songs by The songs experienced tutors and perform a range of music genres, like pop, Motown, contemporary, inspirational, soul, and gospel songs. 

There are a number of The BIG Sing choir groups around the UK, including Essex locations like Maldon, Colchester, Witham, Chelmsford, and Halstead.

The group performed on the popular TV show in 2023The group performed on the popular TV show in 2023 (Image: The BIG Sing) Last year, The BIG Sing performed on televised British talent show competition, Britain's Got Talent and received four yeses from judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli and Amanda Holden. 

The group 'surprised' the judges and audience with a 350-member 'flashmob' at the London Palladium, with the song Brighter Days. 

A spokesperson for The BIG Sing said: "They received four yesses from the judges and have never looked back."

"Since then, they have been in demand, singing at concerts, festivals and events across the country.

"The choir have performed alongside some reputable names already, including Tom Walker, Mica Paris, David Grant, Ellie Goulding and the London Community Gospel Choir.

"They have even sung for Jamie Oliver, toured with Leona Lewis and were the winners of BBC Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year in 2017."

The BIG Sing have recently released a new single for Christmas, called If Love Could Just Be Love', which 88 choir members performed on stage at the National Entertainments awards, at Indigo 02 in London, earlier this month. 

The BIG Sing were 'honoured' with an award for Community Impact.

Group co-founder and director, Gemma Francis said: "Winning a National Entertainment was so overwhelming!"

"The BIG Sing is all about community and uniting people with uplifting music – so to receive recognition for our impact in the community really is a massive lift.

"We know we are achieving great things together.

"We are so proud of the choir."

Written by group co-founder and musical director, Howard Francis, The BIG Sing’s new single came out this month, and 'instantly rose high in the ranks' on the iTunes chart.

Gemma added: "We’ve already made it to number 21 in less than 24 hours."

"Amazing! This song is so special to us.

"It was written by my husband.

"The song is what the world needs to hear right now.

"If love could just be love then the world would just be such a better place.

"Our whole message is about promoting love, faith and joy, and our prayer is that this song will make a massive impact in the societies we live in”.

All proceeds made by the new single will go towards The BIG Sing’s own charity, SOUL.

The BIG Sing SOUL aims to go further into the local community and get more people singing and benefiting from the 'therapeutic qualities' of music. 

Gemma said: "We go into care homes and sing with the residents."

"We go into schools and nurseries and get the kids singing and we take our music to disabled and vulnerable groups.

"Music is so powerful it can help people overcome isolation, depression, loneliness, and illnesses.

"Thanks to our charity we can make our uplifting music accessible to all’.

The BIG Sing have also now started their Christmas Tour Starting in Corby and Loughborough later this month.

The choir have a further 13 shows to perform, brining the group to Colchester.
