To win a reality TV show and be a success is no mean feat, but to emerge second place and go on to take the pop world by storm is almost unheard of.
But that is exactly what JLS have done following X Factor with their debut single Beat Again, which went to number-one in the UK Singles Chart in July and sold over 100,000 copies in its first week of release.
Olly Murs looks certain to be around in this year’s X Factor until the very end and he could very well follow in the MOBO winning group’s footsteps.
While the Witham singer is taking nothing for granted, his army of fans, the judges and viewers have recognised what a talent he is.
His affable demeanour also seems to be winning over neutrals who haven’t yet decided who they are backing.
Award winners JLS are further evidence that acts who shoot to fame on TV talent shows are now getting it right and fulfilling the promise shown on the small screen.
With Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke and JLS the X Factor seems to have found a winning formula and one which could hopefully spell chart success for Olly.
“A year ago the world had never heard of JLS or Alexandra Burke," said Ortiste Williams, who is joined in JLS (Jack the Lad Swing), by Jonathan 'JB' Gill, Marvin Humes, and Aston Merrygold.
“In six months things have really changed for us - we don't have to wake up and try and find a job like we used to. It's our dream job and we're living the dream," explained JB.
Olly, who has already accumulated in the region of 100,000 fans on Facebook sites, can expect even more adoration if he continues in the competition.
"It is still strange for all of us when girls are screaming and fainting when they see us - we just try to give them a cuddle and say 'it's ok'," laughed Mavin.
On Monday the four-piece released their second single Everybody in Love which is being touted to hit the number one spot this weekend.
