Olly's biggest fans are raising a glass to his success and drinking a beer named after him.
After the ‘Olly’ breakfast comes ‘Olly Olly Olly’, a bitter named after the local hero who has been dazzling X Factor viewers since September.
Olly, of Carraways, has been recognised by Maldon brewer, the award-winning Mighty Oak Brewing Company.
The limited edition pint has been commissioned by The Battesford Court, in Newland Street, and is brewed at four per cent ABV.
It is described as a full flavoured, thirst quenching amber coloured session bitter with a biscuity maltiness, moderate bitterness and citrus hop aroma and finish.
David Boys, manager of The Battesford Court, said: “We wanted to honour a local hero who has brought a lot of fun and excitement to the town and the country, so we turned to another local favourite – Mighty Oak. The ale they have produced is a very tasty brew. Our customers are our judges and they’ve been giving it a big thumbs up.”
John Boyce, owner of the Mighty Oak Brewing Company, said: “Olly Murs is a real local product, authentic and refreshing. We’re pleased to do our bit to support him in the contest and to celebrate his success.”
Wherever Olly goes people chanting his name, but whilst he’s sure to be around for a very long time, the ale named after him is a limited edition brew and only available from The Battesford Court for a short time.
• Tune into ITV on Saturday and Sunday night to support Olly!
