Town centre traders and authorities have grouped together to outline their blueprint for revitalising Witham.
At the heart of the plans is a desire to move the town’s Saturday market to a more prominent position in the town to encourage more visitors.
Witham’s town centre Community Interest Company (CIC), led by town councillors, has beaten Saturday’s deadline to submit its application for the Government’s Portas Pilot scheme.
Witham MP Priti Patel said: "I pay tribute to the hard work and commitment of everyone involved in putting the bid together."
