A curry chef was named one of the best in the country after whipping up a feast in a national contest.

Shab Uddin, head chef at Balti Night in Manor Street, Braintree, was honoured at the Curry Life Chef Awards at the World Curry Expo.

He took part in a series of cook-offs against about 50 other entrants.

More than 600 guests attended the Curry Life Chef Awards ceremony, including Matthew Hancock, government minister for business and skills.
