A Witham politician is continuing to fight for victims of crime after figures showed Britain’s worst offender has more than 500 convictions.
MP Priti Patel obtained the figures from the Ministry of Justice which showed the country’s worst 10 repeat offenders have a total of 3,547 convictions.
But Bradley Wernham- who was dubbed Britain’s most prolific burglar after being caught in Witham- is unlikely to be in the list as 645 of his offences were taken into account rather than being separately prosecuted.
Ms Patel said: “Law-abiding residents in Witham will be shocked to see so many serial offenders being let out onto our streets to commit hundreds of crimes.
“Prolific offenders should be keep locked up and kept behind bars to keep the public safe."
