A MAN has been arrested following a police pursuit through Braintree town centre.
Following reports of potential driving offences, officers engaged in a pursuit through Braintree yesterday afternoon (May 15).
They pursued the car for a short distance in the Sunnyside area of town.
The driver of the car, a 35-year-old man, stopped and ran off from his vehicle on Coggeshall Road just before 3.30pm.
Essex Police said: "As our police car was slowing to a stop, we believe the man deliberately ran in front of the vehicle.
"We do not believe he suffered any significant injury but he remains in hospital for observation."
The man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, two offences of assaulting a police officer and driving whilst unfit through drugs.
