A BUSY town centre road has been closed after a woman was hit by a bus.
The incident happened in Coggeshall Road, Braintree, around 1.40pm today (Wednesday, September 16) and polcie are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Officers remain at the scene and have closed Coggeshall Road between Wheatley Avenue and Bartram Avenue North.
A police spokesman said: "This section of road is likely to be closed for several hours.
"We would urge anyone with information or dash cam footage to call our Serious Collision Investigations Unit on 101 quoting incident 611 of 16/09 or you can report information online by visiting www.essex.police.uk."
Traffic on the A120 is being affected and is said to be 'very slow' eastbound towards Galleys Corner.
Some bus services are also affected.

Coggeshall Rd is closed at the traffic lights on Mountbatten Road/Wheatley Avenue.Routes affected, Honywood Braintree, 223 & HRS A & B. We will try to stop at all designated stops or a close to them as possible. Diversions may have to be put in place.
East of England Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
