Student officers will be escaping from their training at Essex Police College to raise money for a children's charity.
On Saturday, officers from this year's G intake will take part in a jail break event in aid of Chelmsford-based charity Kids Inspire.
Working in pairs, their aim is to get as far away as they can from the college in Chelmsford, from 8am to 6pm.
The teams are not allowed to spend any money on their travel during the course of the day.
PC Tom Caton, one of the officers taking part, said: "As officers we are really passionate about giving back to the community and Kids Inspire is a great local charity.
"This challenge will be one of the biggest of our lives.
"It will be difficult as we are not allowed to use money so we will be begging and borrowing, but not stealing as we are the police, to get as far as we can on the day.”
He added: "We are asking for the public to help us out with donations or they could give us a lift if they see us on the day.”
The children supported by Kids Inspire vary widely – some have suffered trauma, neglect or abuse and as a direct result, may feel disconnected from society.
Sue Bell, CEO and founder of the charity said: "Kids Inspire steps in by helping to heal the wounds of trauma and to reconnect these individuals with both themselves and society.
"By doing so we aim to increase feelings of self-worth and prevent individuals from joining gangs or becoming involved in youth crime.”
