ALDERSHOT TOWN 2 BRAINTREE TOWN 1
Skrill Premier
Braintree Town were hit by a late sucker punch as they had to return from Aldershot Town with nothing to show for their efforts.
The Iron were looking to back up Saturday's home win against FC Halifax Town with another three-point haul at a side sitting in the Skrill Premier drop zone.
And that looked a possibility when Kenny Davis gave them the lead in the 16th minute.
The Iron skipper had scored with a penalty against Halifax and was on target from the spot this time as well after james Mulley had been fouled.
However, Braintree's lead only lasted four minutes as Brett Williams forced the ball home from close range to even the score.
The Iron pushed to regain the lead after the break and created numerous chances but a goal from open play proved elusive once again.
Aldershot were reduced to ten men when Jordan Roberts was sent off for a second yellow card with 12 minutes to go, but a goal still wouldn't come for Braintree.
And the Iron's hopes of even getting a point were cruelly dashed in the 89th minute when Matt Paterson pounced to nod in Adam Mekki's mis-hit shot and claim an unlikely three points for the hosts.
